Investigation Yields New Details In Fatal New Jersey Crash

A police investigation has unearthed new facts concerning a July car accident in New Jersey that claimed the life of an 18-year-old college student.

State Police now say the car accident occurred when the 29-year-old driver of a Toyota Camry veered into oncoming traffic, striking the college student’s Chevy Cobalt. As a result, both vehicles went off the road. Two other passengers in the Cobalt were injured in the crash, as were the two people in the Camry.

According to the dead teen’s mother, the girl had been traveling home after visiting a water park in Sparta. An initial investigation suggested that the girl had veered off the road, but a more comprehensive police investigation revealed that it was in fact the driver of the Camry that had caused the accident.

Car collisions can occur at any time. They can be caused by a negligent driver, by a distraction due to cellphone use, or by something totally out of the control of the motorists, such as bad road conditions or defective automobile parts. Regardless, they can have a devastating impact on an unprepared motorist and his or her family.

Losing a loved one to a fatal car accident is an extremely difficult event. In addition to the emotional trauma involved, there are also the financial costs. These include not just the damage done to the vehicle itself, but also medical bills, lost wages and burial and funeral costs for the person killed. A fatal car accident can place tremendous emotional and financial burdens on a person’s loved ones.

The family of any person killed in a car accident is entitled to just and fair compensation. They are entitled to compensation from the person responsible, and may obtain a judgment against the defendant for negligence or recklessness. They may also obtain monetary compensation for lost wages, medical bills and, in some cases, any pain and suffering incurred.
