Heavy Rain Cited As Cause Of Collision Involving NJ Transit Bus

Mount Laurel readers may take interest in the details of a head-on traffic collision that recently took place in Mannington on Aug. 5. The crash involved a New Jersey transit bus and a sedan driven by an elderly woman. Eight people were reported injured in the auto accident, although there were no reports of any life-threatening injuries.

Authorities cited heavy rain as a contributing factor to the accident where the sedan drifted over the center line into oncoming traffic. The bus driver attempted to swerve out of the way, but the two vehicles collided. The elderly woman in the sedan appeared to be more severely injured than the bus driver or the six injured passengers, but none of the injuries appeared life-threatening.

Car accidents are always traumatic for everyone involved. In addition to the shock and anxiety caused by the accident itself, victims have to deal with the physical injuries caused by the accident and, in some cases, the pain and grief of witnessing a loved one or a friend suffer injuries.

In this case, reports indicate that at least three people were taken from the scene on stretchers.
