SUV driver sought in fatal car accident on New Jersey turnpike

After a fatal accident on New Jersey highways, the police investigate the scene before preparing a report. However, they don't want to close off in-demand highways for long, so they generally conduct this investigation and clean up quickly. Much of the investigation goes on in the days, weeks and even months following the car accident.

Hit-and-run accident slows traffic on New Jersey highway

Recently, a suspected hit-and-run accident on Route 78 eastbound near Union, New Jersey, sent a 55-year-old Pennsylvania woman to the hospital. According to the victim, the car accident occurred when a cream-colored four-door car hit hers in the left lane of the highway. The woman's car hit a guard rail as a result of the collision, and sustained damage to both its front and rear end. The car was towed after the accident. The woman complained of neck pain and was taken to the hospital. The accident caused minor traffic delays on the highway. The driver responsible for the accident has not been identified, and the case remains under investigation.

Two-car crash on New Jersey highway shuts down lanes

Recently, a collision between two cars on the Route 80 East in Parsippany, New Jersey, resulted in two lanes of the highway being shut down. It is unclear at this time how the car accident occurred. However, one motorist was rushed to the hospital with injuries, although it is unknown at this time how extensive the injuries are. The auto accident shut down two lanes for several hours before the road was cleared of the wreckage and normal traffic resumed.

Defendant in fatal car accident case sentenced for manslaughter

A man from Monmouth County, New Jersey, was recently sentenced before a federal judge for the involuntary manslaughter of a high school principal that occurred in an automobile accident. The car accident occurred when the man drove his vehicle head-on into oncoming traffic and crashed into a car driven by a local school principal. The principal was killed in the accident, and it was determined that the defendant had been under the influence of Ambien at the time of the accident. The man had taken over four times the recommended dose of the drug. The man was sentenced to 41 months in prison. Because the location of the accident was within Fort Monmouth, the case fell under the jurisdiction of the federal government, rather than the state of New Jersey.

New Jersey woman killed in collision with police officer

A 21-year old New Jersey woman was killed when the car she was driving collided with a police car during the recent hurricane. The auto accident occurred in Port Jefferson when the car went through a stop light and collided with the police vehicle. The driver was killed, and her three passengers were injured and taken to the hospital for treatment. The police officer inside the car was also taken to the hospital and subsequently released. An investigation of the incident is still ongoing, but police confirmed that the traffic light near where the accident occurred was not working at the time of the accident. At the time of the accident, the police car was returning from a call related to the storm.

Motorcycle crash seriously injures New Jersey man

A Magnolia, New Jersey, man sustained serious injuries recently when a car plowed straight into the motorcycle he was riding. The car accident occurred when the car, which was traveling at a very high speed, struck the motorcycle, which was stopped in traffic at a red light. The motorcyclist was struck with such force that his helmet shattered when he hit the ground. Also, the motorcycle's right front wheel assembly was taken off by the collision.

2-car collision claims life of New Jersey woman

Recently, a two-car collision in Manalapan, New Jersey, claimed the life of a 32-year-old woman who had lost control of her car. Police say the auto accident occurred when the woman veered into oncoming traffic while failing to negotiate a curve. The police investigation is still ongoing, however, it has been reported that the car accident may have been caused by high driving speeds and wet roads.

3 people injured in Toms River, NJ, crash

Three people were injured in a car collision that occurred in downtown Toms River recently. A Toyota driven by a 77-year-old woman collided with a Honda being driven by an 18-year old girl. The Honda was overturned as a result of the car accident, and the two drivers, in addition to a passenger in the Toyota, were hospitalized for minor injuries. The accident caused the road to be closed for several hours, and the local police department was conducting an investigation of the accident as of this writing.

Heavy rain cited as cause of collision involving NJ transit bus

Mount Laurel readers may take interest in the details of a head-on traffic collision that recently took place in Mannington on Aug. 5. The crash involved a New Jersey transit bus and a sedan driven by an elderly woman. Eight people were reported injured in the auto accident, although there were no reports of any life-threatening injuries.
