New Jersey family involved in accident with box truck

On Behalf of | May 2, 2014 | Truck Accidents

Although it’s not always the case that a large vehicle results in large accident-related crashes, it is true that big trucks have the potential to cause a lot of damage on the road. A truck accident can leave individuals with serious injuries or even cause the death of other drivers and passengers. An accident on the New Jersey Turnpike left two injured, say authorities.

The accident occurred near lunchtime on Tuesday, April 22. According to reports, the accident involved a box truck and a Toyota Corolla. The Toyota Corolla carried two adults and three children. According to reports, the two adults were treated for injuries at a local hospital following the incident.

The accident caused all of the southbound lanes on the New Jersey Turnpike’s western spur to be closed temporarily. The accident occurred around 11:11 a.m. and authorities were able to open one lane by noon. A trooper with the State Police said that all of the lanes were open by 12:30 p.m., but traffic had backed up two miles when the lanes were closed.

Authorities say that the two adults and three children had to be extricated from the car, which was lodged partially under the box truck following the accident. As of April 22 news reports, there was no indication about what caused the accident or who was at fault.

In a trucking accident where the truck driver is deemed negligent or at fault, injured parties may seek compensation through a personal injury suit. Suits may name various defendants, including truck drivers, truck owners, trucking companies and insurance companies. In complicated personal injury suits, its important to know the proper order of filings, especially when dealing with multiple defendants.
