Fatal pedestrian accident under investigation in Delran

On Behalf of | Feb 15, 2012 | Car Accidents

City traffic engineers and drivers alike have a responsibility to try to make New Jersey roadways safe. One aspect of a traffic engineer’s job is to address unsafe road conditions such as intersections and traffic directives that have proven to be especially dangerous to motorists and pedestrians. Drivers, of course, must try to prevent personal injury by exercising due caution and limiting distractions. A recent pedestrian accident in Burlington County reminds us of the vital importance of these issues.

Sadly, the fatal accident took the life of an Edgewater Park man who was struck by a car on Route 130 in Delran. The collision happened shortly before 6 p.m., and the man was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.

Remarkably, another nearby accident also occurred a few minutes later, and both the northbound and southbound lanes of the highway were shut down while emergency personnel tended to the crash sites.

The investigation of the fatal pedestrian accident was still underway at the time of a local news report. Emergency officials said that one other minor injury was reported in that collision.

While authorities try to determine the exact cause of this tragic incident, the family of the deceased man is likely reeling in grief. When something so devastating occurs, families often need help determining what course of action is next. There is little that can alleviate the pain of this kind of loss, but when a fatal accident occurs because of another person’s reckless or negligent behavior, there are legal actions that can help grieving loved ones achieve some measure of solace.
