New Jersey car accident takes man’s life, injures another

On Behalf of | Jan 4, 2012 | Car Accidents

A recent motor vehicle accident has left a New Jersey man dead and another injured. The accident involved only one vehicle, but no information was available as to which man was driving the car at the time. Authorities are conducting an investigation into the accident to determine the cause of the crash.

Tragically, the accident happened at 1:11 a.m. on the Thursday before Christmas, Dec. 22. The two men were going southbound on a major thoroughfare when their car left the roadway and hit a guardrail. That caused the vehicle to overturn and cross the median before coming to rest on the other side of the road. When emergency responders arrived, they found the car to be engulfed by flames, and both men had been ejected from the vehicle.

A 43-year-old Passaic County man was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 29-year-old man from Newark was taken to a local hospital. At the time of a local news report, he was listed in critical condition. No further details are known, including whether alcohol or speeding may have contributed to the tragedy.

Nonetheless, the family of the deceased man may wish to meet with an attorney to negotiate this time of grief. Although the law cannot provide amends for their loss, it may be able to help them account for funeral expenses, as well as compensate them for their pain and suffering. Here, the applicable lawsuit may involve a wrongful death claim, which refers to a type of death caused by the negligent or willful conduct of another. Additionally, the Newark man may also consider the possibility of a personal injury claim depending upon the outcome of the investigation.
