Automobile Insurance Reform The most prominent issue of our gubernatorial election of 1997 was automobile reform. The driving force behind reform is the currently unacceptable amount of money we must pay for auto insurance premiums in the State of New Jersey. One proposed scheme for reform would result in a decrease in premiums but only in exchange for less coverage. In order to get the biggest premium savings, you would be required to give up your right to seek compensation for injuries sustained in an automobile accident no matter how severe the injuries may be. Obviously, this type of reform requires people to pay insurance companies larger premiums in order to continue to have access to our courts and to be compensated for injuries wrongfully caused by other drivers. This type of reform will cause great hardship for those who are forced to give up their rights due to economic considerations and leave the court room doors open only to those wealthy enough to pay higher premiums. If you have been injured in an automobile accident, you have the right to be compensated for your injuries by the person responsible for causing those injuries. If you have any questions about those rights, or if you would like to consult a lawyer about pursuing such a case, please call our offices, Ginsberg & O'Connor, P.C. at 609-727-1991. We're located at the Atrium II, 3000 Atrium Way, Suite 101, Mt. Laurel, New Jersey.
